Description

As a Senior Quantum Applications Scientist, you will work closely with Qedma’s customers and partners to apply quantum computing to real-world problems using Qedma’s error-reduction technologies. You will lead and execute scientific projects with customers, translating application requirements into quantum workflows.

By adapting and optimizing advanced error mitigation and correction techniques, you will help demonstrate meaningful performance gains and push the boundaries of what near-term quantum computers can do.

In this role, you will serve as a technical bridge between Qedma’s core technology and customer use cases, combining deep scientific expertise with hands-on client engagement. You will contribute to the evolution of Qedma’s error-reduction methods while ensuring they are effectively deployed in customer-facing applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead scientific collaborations with customers and partners, applying Qedma’s error-reduction solutions to real quantum applications.
  • Understand customer use cases and translate application requirements into optimized quantum algorithms and workflows.
  • Adapt and apply error mitigation and correction techniques for specific algorithms and quantum hardware platforms.
  • Support customers throughout the full project lifecycle, from exploration through technical validation.
  • Provide technical feedback from customer projects to shape the ongoing development of Qedma’s error-reduction technologies.
  • Communicate results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customers, partners, and internal teams.

Requirements

  • PhD in quantum computing, physics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field; or MSc with significant relevant experience.
  • Strong programming skills, preferably in Python, with experience implementing and running quantum algorithms.
  • Solid understanding of quantum algorithms; understanding of noise and error sources in near-term quantum hardware is an advantage.
  • Experience or strong interest in applied, customer-driven scientific projects.
  • Excellent technical and scientific communication skills in English and Japanese, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently with customers while collaborating effectively with internal research and product teams.

Advantages:

  • Expertise in one or more of the following domains: quantum chemistry, materials science, theoretical condensed matter physics, classical optimization, quantum information theory, machine learning, or AI.
  • Experience working with industry partners, startups, or applied research collaborations.
  • Familiarity with running experiments on cloud-based quantum hardware platforms.
