Senior Security Advocate - Workload

We are a team of engineers that translate our real world experience to help our user communities solve problems. With a focus on Workload Security, you will leverage both your Security engineering and creative storytelling skills to educate and empower our user communities. You will have the opportunity to meet key leaders across the industry, and broaden your impact to the Cloud and Security community at large.

In this role you will be hands-on with the full suite of Datadog Security Products and beyond. You’ll work to create compelling research content to demonstrate industry trends, design engaging training content, and speak at conferences globally to share your knowledge broadly.

What You’ll Do:

  • Speak at conferences and meetups to build Datadog’s reputation as a leader around DevOps, monitoring, observability, and security.
  • Create content in one or more modes: blogging, documentation, public speaking, webinars, and research papers
  • Partner with product engineering teams to build compelling demos
  • Doggedly pursue excellence in our products to shape the direction of the portfolio
  • Collaborate with our community of open-source contributors to develop new integrations for Datadog
  • Research attack tactics and techniques from workload through control plane
  • Discover and demonstrate new attack and defense techniques that apply to all phases of the software development lifecycle
  • Contribute our findings back to projects like MITRE ATT&CK, Caldera, and more
  • Work across the Datadog organization to help mentor and develop other security stories
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for events, programs, and other community-focused work that establishes trust with developers

Who You Are:

  • A trusted expert in the Security team with knowledge developed as an experienced senior software developer, SRE, or other practitioner; including building and maintaining production systems
  • A respected and credible advocate with experience reaching technical users across multiple channels, such as written content, conference talks, leading workshops, live streaming or recording videos, contributing to open source, and participating in community events. Note: Maybe advocacy is your passion and you currently do this without pay.
  • You have publicly available writing samples or recordings of presentations on technical topics
  • Able to communicate with technical users of all skill levels, from junior developers to CTOs
  • You can design software and comfortably read 2 or more programming languages
  • You are comfortable and familiar with modern infrastructure such as IaaS cloud services and containers
  • You have hands on experience managing EDR, Endpoint agents, or other behavior based controls for workloads and containers
  • You enjoy self-driven exploration and education on new technologies and can transform dry technical topics into engaging, informative and interesting educational materials

Bonus points:

  • You love malware analysis and have experience in digital forensics
  • ANSI SQL and Jupyter Notebooks are tools in your arsenal for reporting and creating reproducible process
  • Familiarity with industrial forensics
  • You can write C++, C, or other low level languages particularly interfaces to eBPF

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Datadog ranges from $174,000 to $223,000, plus a competitive equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Datadog offers a wide range of best in class, comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, dental, parental planning, and mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.
