The Data Engineering Developer Experience team’s core mission is to provide a complete and easy to use platform for Datadog engineers to reliably process data at petabyte-scale. We strive to eliminate obstacles for our Data Engineering teams, allowing them to focus on their core missions and business objectives. By enabling new use cases and fostering innovation, we aim to enhance the velocity and productivity of the individuals and teams we support.

As the manager of our team, you will play a crucial role in architecting and delivering a comprehensive and user-friendly data processing platform. In addition to possessing deep technical expertise in the data processing domain, we value your ability to explore various use cases, delve into details, and devise common patterns and abstractions. By doing so, you will contribute to the development of a solution that not only unifies users but also provides them with substantial value. At Datadog we value hands-on managers, who are able to contribute to the codebase of the team they manage. You will be expected, when appropriate, to make contributions to the code base.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage and mentor a team of 7 to 9 Data Engineers building the infrastructure for other Data Engineering teams

• Own the roadmap and vision of the team, breaking down the vision into achievable tasks to assign to the team

• Continuously evaluate and improve the developer experience by identifying pain points, streamlining processes, and introducing innovative features.

• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in data processing technologies and identify opportunities for integration and improvement.

• Contribute to the team effort by writing and reviewing PRs.
  

Who You Are:

• You have been yourself a Data Engineer, wrote pipelines (ex: Airflow or Luigi) and dealt with their deployment and maintenance in production

• You have led or mentored a team of Data Engineers, working on their infrastructure and with a deep knowledge of the Data Engineering ecosystem

• You’re able to explain advanced technical concepts in a simple manner and cater to your audience

• You have a natural curiosity and an investigative mindset; you’re driven by the “why”
